2,5-Dimethyl-3,4-diphenylcyclopentadienone mononer (Orange colour)

2,5-Dimethyl-3,4-diphenylcyclopentadienone is coloured while its dimer is not. The dimerization reaction is monitored by spectrophotometry. A decrease in absorbance in the visible region reflects the increasing concentration of dimer being formed during the course of reaction.
